The lion
The lion on the front is the Marzocco, the heraldic lion of Florence that the company is named after and has used as its emblem since 1927. On this cup it sits in relief rather than as a print, and the surface around it carries a spatula texture, as if the glaze had been spread by hand. The effect is a cup that looks and feels different from the smooth white Linea cups, with a bit more weight and grip in the hand.
Size and use
167 ml is a classic cappuccino volume: a double shot plus enough textured milk to pour a rosetta, without the drink turning into a latte. It also works for a flat white or a long black. If you want a Norwegian-made alternative in the same spirit, the Figgjo Oslo Cups cover similar volumes in a plainer shape.
