Why add a disc to a moka pot
The standard filter plate in a moka pot lets some of the finest coffee particles through, and they show up as sediment and a slightly gritty finish in the cup. The Superfine Moka Disc adds a second, finer layer of filtration. The cup comes out cleaner, while the body that moka coffee is known for stays, because metal lets the natural oils pass where paper would hold them back.
Fitting it
Fill the coffee basket as usual and place the disc so it sits beneath the gasket and filter plate of the upper chamber, then screw the pot together and brew as normal. Nothing on the pot has to be removed or modified. After brewing, rinse the disc and let it dry before the next use.
Which moka pots it fits
The disc is sized at 57.5 mm for the Bialetti Moka Express in the 3 cup and 4 cup sizes. Cafe Concetto also lists it for selected Alessi moka pots and other stovetop pots with the same filter dimensions. If you have a different pot, check that its gasket and filter plate are the same size as on a 3 or 4 cup Moka Express. Smaller and larger pots need a different size.
