Product details
A corner tamping mat from La Marzocco Home, moulded in food-safe silicone. It hooks over the edge of the counter so the portafilter sits level and stable while you tamp, and the rubber takes the pressure instead of your worktop. The surface is non-slip and wipes clean.
At 20.3 by 14.6 cm it is compact enough to live next to the grinder on a small kitchen counter, which is where most Linea Micra and Linea Mini setups end up.

Why a corner mat
Tamping with 15 to 20 kg of force onto a bare counter does two things you do not want: it scratches the surface where the portafilter spouts land, and it lets the portafilter rock, which tilts the tamp. A corner mat solves both. The moulded lip hooks over the counter edge, so the mat cannot slide backwards, and the raised section cradles the portafilter at a comfortable height while the handle hangs off the edge. Your wrist stays straight and the tamp lands flat.
Material and care
The mat is a single piece of food-safe silicone, so there are no seams for grounds to collect in. Rinse it under the tap or put it in the dishwasher. Silicone also grips the counter better than the older PVC mats, and does not go hard or crack over time.
Pairing
The mat is sized for a standard 58 mm portafilter. It works with any tamper, but it pairs well with a calibrated model such as the Normcore Spring Loaded Tamper V4, since a stable base is what makes a calibrated tamper repeatable.
