Pro handle or original Stagg EKG handle?

The Stagg EKG Pro uses a different handle from the original Stagg EKG, and the two are not interchangeable. This listing is the Pro version, made for the Fellow Stagg EKG Pro Electric Kettle and the Pro Studio Edition. The Studio Edition differs from the standard Pro in its glass-topped base and metal details, and both take this handle.

If you are not sure which kettle you have, look at the base. The Pro and Pro Studio bases have a full-colour screen with scheduling and Guide Mode, and they only work with Pro kettles. The original Stagg EKG base has a simpler display and a dial.

Walnut or maple

Walnut is a deep brown, maple is pale and light in tone. Fellow pairs walnut with its matte black kettles and maple with its lighter colours such as Matte White and Smoke Green. Fellow also advises against using walnut on a matte white kettle, because natural oils in the wood can stain the white finish over time. As with any natural wood, grain and shade vary a little from handle to handle.

The lid pull

The lid pull is not included. Fellow supplies its wooden lid pulls fitted to a complete replacement lid rather than as a separate part, so the handle can be swapped on its own and your current lid stays as it is.

Fitting and care

Make sure the kettle is empty and cool before swapping the handle. The handle comes with the mounting hardware it needs.

Wood that is regularly exposed to heat and steam can dry out and crack over time. Fellow recommends rubbing a little food-safe mineral oil into the handle about once a month and buffing it with a soft cloth, and doing the same whenever the wood feels dry. Keep it out of the dishwasher.
