The stainless steel dosing cup made for the La Marzocco Pico grinder. Grind into the cup, then invert it over the portafilter and lift: the cup is sized to fit inside a 58 mm basket, and a simple stop on the rim keeps it from dropping all the way down, so the grounds land in the basket rather than around it.
It is the cup to use if you single dose with the Pico, weighing beans in and grinding them straight through, and it works equally well with any other grinder whose chute clears a small cup.

How it fits the Pico workflow
The La Marzocco Pico has a magnetic portafilter fork, so most people grind straight into the basket. A dosing cup is the alternative for single dosing: weigh out the beans, drop the hopper gate, grind into the cup, and tip into the basket. The cup catches everything the grinder produces, which makes the dose exact and keeps the fork area clean. It also lets you give the grounds a shake to break up clumps before they go in.
The rim stop
Dosing cups that fit inside the basket are more convenient than cups that sit on top, but a plain cup can slip down until it rests on the coffee. This one has a stop on the rim that holds it at the top of the basket. Invert cup and portafilter together, lift the cup straight up, and the grounds are left as a loose mound ready for distribution.
