Product details
The ODZ Benjarong Series is the hand-painted, limited-edition tier of ODZ’s bone china pour-over dripper, made in Thailand. The brewing body is the same across the ODZ range, ten deep wave-shaped ribs around a wide central cavity, but the Benjarong pieces are finished by hand in the traditional Thai Benjarong enamel style, so each one is individually decorated and released in small numbered runs rather than as open stock. It works as a decorative object as much as a daily brewer.

A bone china dripper with Benjarong painting
The Benjarong Series sits at the top of ODZ’s range. The dripper itself is the same bone china pour-over body ODZ makes in Thailand, but the surface is decorated by hand in the Benjarong style. Benjarong (Thai for “five colors”) is a traditional Thai overglaze enamel technique, historically tied to the royal court, in which fine multicolored patterns are painted onto the piece and often picked out in gold. Because the work is done by hand, no two pieces are identical, and each design is produced in a limited run rather than as a continuous stock item.
How it brews
Under the decoration, the body is the standard ODZ design: ten deep, wave-like ribs radiating from a wide central cavity. The ribs hold the paper away from the wall so water and air can move freely down the bed, and the shape is built to take both cone-shaped filters (V60 #01 size) and flat-bottom wave filters, so you can switch brewing styles with one dripper. Bone china holds heat well and is lighter than standard ceramic, which helps keep the temperature steady through the pour.
Choosing between the ODZ series
All three ODZ lines share the same dripper body and the same brewing behavior, so the choice is really about the finish. The Color Series is a single solid color, the Artist Series carries free-form painted motifs, and the Benjarong Series uses the traditional Thai enamel work and is released in the smallest quantities. If you mainly want the brewing performance, the Color Series is the most affordable way in. The Benjarong Series is for buyers who want the decorative piece as much as the brewer.
