A Winning Recipe with the April Brewer

World champion Ole Kristian Bøen is back to show you how to brew coffee like a world champion, this time with the april brewer. In this post, he will be sharing the winning recipe he used at the World Brewers Cup in Milan in 2021. It’s perfect for all types of coffee.

Crafted with improved plastic Makrolon®, the April plastic brewer is designed to keep the brewing temperature stable, resulting in a more consistent brewing process. Here’s what you need:

  • April dripper
  • Kalita 185 filters
  • 20 g of coffee
  • 300 ml of water at 93 degree
  • Medium/coarse grind size (28 clicks on Comandante C40)

Here are the steps to brew a perfect cup with the april brewer:

  1. Start with a 50 g bloom for 30 seconds.
  2. Pour up to 200 g with 100 g circle pour at first before you change to 50 g centre pour.
  3. After 1:30 – Pour 100 g heavy in the centre.
  4. Total brewing time between 2:50 and 3:00 minutes.
