Why blind burrs
Most flat burrs are bolted to their carriers with screws through the cutting face. Blind burrs are mounted from behind, so the grinding surface is uninterrupted. The geometry gets the full face to work with, and there are no screw holes to trap grounds and slow down cleaning. The trade-off is that blind burrs only fit grinders designed for them: they will not go into a screw-mount 80 mm grinder.
The Core geometry
LeBrew recommends the Core set first and foremost for pour over. It is a demanding geometry for the motor, and LeBrew advises letting the motor get up to speed before adding beans, especially with very light roasts. On the Option-O Lagom P80, which LeBrew has confirmed this set fits, that simply means starting the grinder before you pour in the dose.
Like the rest of the HyperBurrs range, the burrs are CNC machined from DC53 cold work tool steel (Cr8Mo2SiV), hardened to 60 to 62 HRC and coated with a roughly 3 µm layer of TiAlN. LeBrew rates this set for 4,500 to 5,000 kg of coffee, more than twice the figure for its 64 mm burrs.
Compatibility
This is a blind 80 mm set, confirmed by LeBrew for the Option-O Lagom P80. It does not fit screw-mount 80 mm grinders such as the Mahlkönig E80S or the Ditting 804 and 807. If you have another 80 mm blind-burr grinder, contact us before ordering and we will check with LeBrew.
After fitting, re-zero the grinder and expect the cup to settle over the first few kilos as the new edges bed in.
