Mr. Mengeche Derso is the farmer behind today’s coffee, roasted by Swerl. His naturally processed lot from Gedeo, Ethiopia blooms with jasmine, red berries, crisp apple, and brown sugar sweetness.
It’s rare to get this level of traceability in Ethiopia, but Mr. Mengeche and his family make it possible. A beautiful mix of tradition, skill, and soul. We hope you’ll love it.

We chose this coffee because its delicious taste profile representative of its unique terroir with high altitudes and a qualitative and mindful approach to farming – prioritizing sustainable practices. This lot showcases the work of a single producer family, Mr. Mengeche Derso and his family – it is rare in Ethiopia to have such level of traceability. At 62 years old, Mr. Mengeche brings a lifetime of farming experience to his work. His commitment to quality has not gone unnoticed; he has received recognition from local government organizations for his dedication to excellence in coffee production.

Water: 249g / 94 degrees
Grind size: 200-700 um / fine-medium fine
Brew with a V60 or Kalita Dripper with Kalita filter
1st pour: 45 g
2nd pour at 0:30 seconds up to: 100 g
