Three profiles in one box

Water is the largest single ingredient in a cup of coffee, and the minerals dissolved in it change both how the coffee extracts and how the result is perceived. The APAX LAB Box Set gives you three different mineral compositions rather than one fixed recipe, which makes it as useful for learning as it is for dialling in a specific coffee.

The concentrates contain no flavourings. They only supply minerals that occur naturally in water, in controlled proportions.

What each concentrate does

How to use them

Shake the bottle before use. For brew water, dose 3 to 4 g per litre of demineralised water. Demineralised or very low ppm water is recommended, since starting from near zero is what gives you control over the final composition. You can also skip the water building and add 1 to 10 drops straight into a brewed 200 ml cup, which is a quick way to taste the difference between the three profiles side by side.

Work in small increments. The effect of a single drop is noticeable, so adjust and taste rather than making large jumps.

Choosing between 20 ml and 100 ml

The 20 ml set holds roughly 30 brews per bottle and is the practical choice for trying the range, for travel, or for training and cupping sessions. The 100 ml set holds roughly 150 brews per bottle and suits daily home use or a café that has already settled on how it wants to use them.
