Laurina, sometimes called Bourbon Pointu, is a rare and naturally low-caffeine coffee variety prized for its delicate, tea-like character and subtle sweetness. Originally discovered on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean, its small, pointed beans give it a unique appearance, while the cup profile often shows floral notes, gentle acidity, and a silky body. Because it produces little caffeine—a natural defense against pests—the plant is fragile and difficult to cultivate, making Laurina both highly sought after and relatively scarce in the specialty coffee world.
