A rounder server for slow pour over

KINTO’s Slow Coffee Style collection is built around brewing by hand at an unhurried pace. This server is the collection’s round-bodied glass jug: you brew into it, read the volume off the dots on the side and pour from the spout at the table. Because it is clear glass, you can watch the coffee collect as the brew drains.

Which size?

The 2 cup server is marked at 300 ml and holds about 450 ml to the brim, which suits one large mug or two small cups. The 4 cup server has marks at 300 and 600 ml and holds about 750 ml, enough for a pot to share. Brew straight into either one from a dripper that sits securely on the rim, such as the Loveramics Coffee Dripper, for a simple two-piece setup.

Rounded server or SCS-S02 server?

KINTO also makes the SCS-S02 server, which has straighter sides and a slightly narrower body (75 mm across on the 2 cup size, against 85 mm here). The rounded server holds a little more at each size and has a softer, fuller shape. Both are heat-resistant glass and both are microwave and dishwasher safe, so the choice mostly comes down to looks and how much headroom you want above the cup marks.

Care and use

Heat-resistant glass copes well with hot coffee but not with sudden temperature swings. Don’t pour cold liquid into a hot server or set it down hot on a wet surface, and keep it away from open flames and hobs. In the microwave, never heat it empty or overheat it. Skip steel wool and abrasive cleaners, which scratch the glass.
