Product details
A mineral concentrate for coffee brewing water aimed specifically at mouthfeel and sweetness rather than acidity or aroma. KONFLUX is the fourth profile in the APAX LAB range and the only one built without magnesium, using silica in the form of fine-ground quartz instead.
Made from demineralised water and analytical reagent grade (AR) minerals. Dose into demineralised water before brewing, or add a few drops directly to a finished cup.

A profile built for texture
Most mineral recipes for coffee lean on magnesium, which tends to push extraction and brightness. KONFLUX leaves magnesium out entirely. Instead it uses calcium, potassium, sodium and silica, and is aimed at the part of the cup that recipes usually treat as a side effect: how the coffee feels.
Apax describes the intended result as a rounder, more coating texture with more apparent sweetness, without lifting acidity or changing the coffee’s flavour identity. In practice it’s the concentrate to reach for when a coffee tastes clean and correct but thin.
The quartz question
The silica in KONFLUX comes from fine-ground quartz. Apax’s stated reasoning is that quartz carries no electrical charge, so unlike calcium and magnesium it does not drive extraction in the usual way. Its role is to raise perceived viscosity rather than to change what gets dissolved out of the grounds. This is the manufacturer’s account of the mechanism rather than an independently established one, and it is worth tasting for yourself before repeating the claim to customers.

JAMM is the closest neighbour, but it works through calcium and bicarbonate to build richness and depth. KONFLUX is narrower in what it does and more focused on tactile weight. If you already have the box set, KONFLUX is the addition that covers ground the other three don’t.
How to use it
Shake the bottle before use. For brew water, dose 3 to 4 g per litre of demineralised water. Demineralised or very low ppm water is recommended, since starting from near zero is what gives you control over the final composition. You can also add 1 to 10 drops straight into a brewed 200 ml cup, which is the fastest way to judge what it does to a coffee you already know.
Adjust in small steps. A single drop is noticeable, so taste as you go rather than making large jumps.
Background
KONFLUX started as a limited-edition profile for the 2025 World Brewers Cup and was refined through a season of competition use before general release in early 2026. In April 2026 it won the SCA Best New Product award in the Specialty Coffee Consumables category at World of Coffee San Diego, entered by Apax’s US distributor Slow Pour Supply.
