I’ve been seriously into coffee for decades, and crazy into it for the past four years. I’ve tweaked every variable imaginable with my go-to IZpresso ZP6. However great a job it did, I found that it was somewhat constrained in that its range of “optimal” settings was somewhat narrow: if one went outside that range, some undesirables would enter (bitterness, sandiness, tannins, too much intensity). On the basis of some excellent advice on You Tube, I tried the Kinu M47 Titan and it has been a game-changer: everything works, viz. one can go fine or coarse, and what will change is the profile of the cup. But what will not significantly change is the quality of the cup. One can produce different cup profiles with the same brewer simply by going from fine-medium-coarse on the Kinu. It is a remarkable (and beautiful and impressively well-built) tool. The cups it produces are clean, nuanced, and simply delicious, and, to repeat, one can get both a rich, deep, yet clean and smooth cup as well as a more tea-like, complex, crystal-clear cup. I was unable to mange that with the ZP6, which did its job excellently, but didn’t have the versatility of the Kinu.
