Today, we have a coffee from Denmark’s Coffee Collective, a bean that has been a cornerstone for them for 14 years.
Today’s selection is the legendary Kieni from the Nyeri region of Kenya.
This Washed coffee, featuring the prized SL28 and SL34 varieties, is grown in Kenya’s rich, volcanic soils. Coffee Collective chose it for the vibrant, juicy acidity and remarkable structure that exemplify the best of Kenyan profiles.

Grown in Nyeri’s rich, volcanic soils, it captures everything we value in Kenyan coffee: a vibrant, juicy acidity and defined berry character. What consistently sets Kieni apart is its remarkable sweetness and structure — a deep, jam-like mouthfeel balanced by bright, lingering acidity. It’s a coffee that showcases the clarity, complexity, and layered fruit expression that make Kenyan coffees so distinctive.
Coffee: 16 grams
Water: 250g / 94 degrees / 15-30ppm
Grind size: 700-950um / Medium coarse
Rinse the filter with hot water.
Add coffee and level the bed.
Bloom for 30 seconds with 48g water.
Pour the rest of the water in one pour.
When the water’s through, remove the dripper and enjoy your cup.
