The chocolate is made from cocoa beans from a single, small plantation in Nicaragua . Mikkel Friis-Holm gets the cocoa beans from Alfonso Tapia near the El Castillo village in the south of Nicaragua, right on the border with Costa Rica. He buys his entire year’s harvest from him to make this beautiful chocolate. The cocoa grows naturally, the old-fashioned way with plenty of space between the trees and plenty of shade that protects the cocoa trees from too much sun. No pesticides are used, just a lot of care and love for this valuable asset.

Mikkel Friis-Holm wants to make good chocolate, chocolate that simply tastes good. That is his claim, no more and no less. He produces all his chocolates using the Bean-To-Bar process.

Try the Don Alfonso 70% Single Farm dark chocolate, maybe with a strong red wine.
