Clever Coffee – Ruarai, Kenya

We brought this coffee to our lineup at World of Coffee and by many got the feedback that it was the best coffee they tasted at the show.

It’s a bright and balanced coffee with a great complexity. The flavors are very fruity with the classic black currant, but also cherry, kiwi, rhubarb and lime. This is everything we would expect from a Kenyan coffee, but with delicious layers of flavor as the coffee cools. This coffee primarily consists of the popular varieties SL 28 and SL 34, but it also contains small amounts of other local varieties.

The washing station Ruarai in central Kenya collects cherries from approx. 600 local producers. The farms are only 0,4 hectares in average – some of the farms have as little as 100 coffee plants. In total they produce around 280 tonnes of cherries of very high quality every year.
